At The End Of A Long Day

I wrote this as an ode to the seemingly “ordinary” bed that works magic on each of our bodies and minds every night we decide to rest and restore for what we hope will be tomorrow.

Original photograph taken by author.

At the end of a long day

my body

like a magnet

is drawn to my bed.

The white linen sheets

peppered with

vibrant colors

red, oranges, green,

all come together

to call specifically and intentionally

for my name.

I lift the sheets

and crawl in

realizing

at the end of a long day

this space

generously holds and restores me

for fresh beginnings,

tantalizing tomorrows

all which patiently await me

at the start of

what I hope

will be a new day.

XO,

Laveet
