Back Aches

Going about

my day

I pick up

my long neck

watering can

and nourish

the greenery

in front of me.

I smile as

I watch

my plant babies

drink it up.

I watch the flow

steady and slow.

Suddenly,

in the small of my back

I feel a slight twinge

and I cringe ever so slightly

knowing it’s time for

my body

to do the heavy

work it does

monthly.
