An ode to Brown Girls who are learning how to put their well-being first.

Original Photograph featuring our ‘Brown GIrl Joy’ Collection. You can find it here.

To the brown girls whose thick thighs were called fat,

whose wide hips were called too large,

whose breasts were commented on without their permission,

whose wide and long noses were called big,

whose Brown complexions were called too dark.

I’m sorry that society and culture made you think their opinion was more important than how you felt about yourself.

If only they knew you were born exactly how you should have been.

In the exact form that you came in.

It’s not you who’s the problem.

It’s them.

Protect your Brown Girl joy.

XO,

Laveet
