You know what I learned about human beings not only from being in academic medicine, but also from being in the real world my whole life?

You can’t shame people into changing. You can’t shame yourself into changing.

The best way to implement a change and make sure that you’re actually going to stick to it and stay consistent with it, at least from my own experience, is doing it from a place of love. Knowing that you deserve the change and that you are worthy of that change creates a different experience for you.

The changes that I’ve been able to sustain came from a place of self worth and deep knowing that I deserved better.

If you’re someone who’s sitting there right now thinking that you can shame or guilt your way into change and it’s not working let this be your sign to try something different.
