Keep Shooting Your Shot
Showing up consistently for ourselves and taking risks even when it’s difficult illuminates our love for self.
Sometimes it can be difficult to get up and motivate yourself to just do it. I’ve been there, done that, and started to notice a pattern when this happened. Something inside of me would try to convince me to not try because it was a risk and might not work out. To make it even harder most people around me were conditioned to believe in safety and security above all else, which made stepping outside the box seem like a threat. The best things in life come from us taking risks on ourselves and stepping outside of our comfort zone. I knew I had to kick that nonsense to the curb early on in my life.
Since then I’ve majored in Gender Studies and Psychology, moved across the country from the west to east coast, started dating someone outside of my ethnic background, applied to medical school, started my own lifestyle brand, and much more. Shooting your shot in life is so important. You never know what might come out of it.
In a way shooting my shot is a love language for me. I know if I stop myself from trying there is a big chance I might regret it later and that’s the last thing I want for myself.
