Libraries Were My Refuge

Back home, I read every section of my library and stayed up late to read more, but I never saw myself represented in the books I read.

Libraries.

Are where I learned about the universe that was restricted for me

It was where I blindly lept into concepts of

sexuality

romance

bullying

strong women

international folks

Libraries were a place of exploration and understanding

But I didn’t realize you had to live through it to fully understand what it meant

Cause let me be honest

Most of the literature I read was never from my perspective

And that’s how I got into writing my story
