Watching my niece for the past year has been the gift of a lifetime. She smiles for reasons none of us can see and is wholeheartedly absorbed in the moment and her life. Despite seeing her toothy smile a hundred times, each time is as special as the last because it mirrors pure, unadulterated joy.
She serves as a reminder to me that we are all born into this world in our most natural state of love and joy. When we see a leaf for the first time, we are filled with joy. The first time we touch a dog, we are full of joy. The first time we listen to music, we are filled with joy.
